Sara Gosses is a New York and Chicago based designer, born and raised on Lake Erie. Sara received her BA from Hope College, taking classes in as many different departments as possible while also spending a semester in London with IES and a semester in New York with GLCA’s Arts Semester. From the other side of Lake Michigan she earned her MFA in Stage Design at Northwestern University.
Grounded in story Sara is motivated by magic, myth, your playlist, and the person who lives down the street. She believes in the power of connection and intention. Gosses creates in found spaces, traditional performance venues, and anywhere there is something worth seeing.
Sara often designs new works, including the world premieres of Kori Alston’s adaptation of FUENTE OVEJUNA, Blake Bishton’s UNEQUILIBRIUM, Matthew Minnicino’s ANON, Daria Tavana’s adaptation of SLAUGHTERHOUSE FIVE, Laura Zlatos’s THREE HOURS, Hannah Bisewski’s NIGHT, STILL, Circle Theatre of New York’s FLASH FLASH BANG BOOM and their adaptation of WOYZECH. Sara is the resident designer for the Exquisite Corpse Company and has designed all of their collaboratively written immersive pieces.
Sara is also an active assistant, working at venues including The Public, New York Theatre Workshop, Steppenwolf Theatre Co., and The Court Theatre.
